How to Expand Your English Vocabulary
When studying English, it is very essential that you have the vocabularies needed for you to effectively communicate. Because English has many homonyms(words having the same sounds but different meaning and spelling), it is important that you learn each words well. But how do you improve your vocabulary in a fun and easy way?
We have here 5 tips for you to expand your vocabularies.
1. Learn at least 5 words everyday. When you learn new words, use them in sentences. You must practice using them in sentences until you get used to these words. Use them when talking with someone in English.
2. Read a lot of books in English. Allocate atleast 30 minutes of your time to read. You can read short stories, news articles, business articles, etc. It is recommended that you read articles that are within your interest so you won't get bored. When you encounter new words, write them down, then make them into sentences.
3. Learn the family words of each words. Each words have family words. It means, these words have related words with different parts of speech. For example: accept is a verb; acceptance is a noun; acceptable is an adjective.
Try to list down all the family words of each words to expand your vocabularies.
4. Learn about prefixes and suffixes. These are also essential in expanding your words. Prefixes are words placed in the first part of the word. For example: re- is a prefix which means again. So reuse means to use again.

Suffixes are words added in the last part of the word. They change the original word to another part of speech. for example: -tion (is a suffix used from verbs to noun)

5. The last but not the least tip, is to talk with people in English.
When you converse with people, you will learn several words from them. If you are in doubt with the words they are using, do not be afraid to ask. Asking is a good way for you to improve not only your speaking but also your vocabulary. With speaking, you can effectively use the words you've learned and you will be able to learn new words and even expressions.
There are many other ways to expand one's vocabulary. But remember, keep on practicing everyday. If you don't practice everyday, it will just be a waste to remember many words. Apply these words in conversation because that is the most important use of a language.
